The turkey burgers are the ones on the right covered in the white cheese, how much better do they look than the reg. burgers?! |
The 2 flavors really complement each other well. Don't be intimidated by using chipotle peppers if you've never used them before, they're super user-friendly they come in a little can in the Mexican food aisle in your grocery store. I found them next to the salsas and canned chiles, and they look a little something like this...
See? So not scary. They're little peppers but they bring a huge tasty punch to your burgers. I used 1 1/2 for this recipe, but if you LOVE spicy food feel free to add 2 full peppers, or if you aren't a spicy food fan cut it down to just 1. I really don't advise you to skip the peppers, they bring the flavor! You won't use the entire jar unless you're making a ton of these burgers so just toss them into an airtight container, refrigerate, and use them for your next batch of burgers, whether they're turkey or beef they bring a lot of unexpected flavor.
Ingredients: (Makes 4 burgers)
1 lb. ground turkey
A handful of chopped cilantro (I used about 1/4 c.)
1 1/2 Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely chopped
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. Onion Powder
1 tsp. Seasoned Salt
1/4 tsp. Black pepper
4 slices cheese (I like provolone)
Step 1: Preheat grill on medium- high heat. Combine the ground turkey, cilantro, peppers, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
Wash your hands and just mix with your hands, I know it's gross but it works the best. Just do it! |
Step 2: Score down the center of the turkey mixture and then across the center to form 4 equal parts, these will be your patties.
Step 4: Take each patty out, roll into a ball with your hands and then flatten to make a burger patty.
Step 5: Grill about 4 minutes per side, or until no longer pink in the center. Top with cheese and serve.
Look at all that flavor in every bite! :-) |
Okay, these are seriously good and will make a huge impact at your next BBQ. Just give em a try :-) They might be a little adventurous, but the payoff is huge, I promise!
